INTERNET HALL of FAME INNOVATOR
Anne-Marie Eklund Löwinder
Anne-Marie Eklund Löwinder has been an innovator in the implementation of the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), which enables users to be sure they are visiting a legitimate website. Since 1999, when the protocol was introduced, she has spurred the development of both its technology and its usage procedures. Mrs. Eklund Löwinder made sure that .SE became the world’s first top-level domain to be signed with DNSSEC, in 2005. Since then, she has traveled the world speaking at conferences and organizing training courses on DNSSEC for other top-level domains. She has served as Quality and Security Manager at .SE, Sweden’s Internet Infrastructure Foundation, since 2004. She is a board member of CENTR, the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries, and serves on the boards of the Swedish Law and Informatics Research Institute and the Swedish Network Users’ Society, among other Internet-related organizations. Mrs. Eklund Löwinder is also a member of the information security council of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. Recently, Eklund Löwinder was appointed by ICANN as a Crypto Officer for the Internet root zone. She holds a Ph.C. in computer science from Stockholm University.
